ISS UW is collaborating with the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia (WCEE) at the University of Michigan to promote scientific and academic exchanges in the social sciences.<\/p>\n
Given the importance of international cooperation, WCEE and ISS support joint research projects, the exchange of scientific publications and reports, the organization of symposia, workshops and conferences, as well as the development and exchange of scientific personnel at both institutions. A memorandum of understanding between the two entities was first signed in 2013 by ISS Director Tomasz Zarycki and WCEE Director Anna Grzyma\u0142a-Busse. In 2023, the renewed memorandum was signed by current ISS Director Anna Domaradzka and WCEE Director Genevi\u00e8ve Zubrzycki.<\/p>\n
WCEE supports faculty and student research, teaching, collaboration, and public engagement in studying the institutions, cultures, and histories of these regions.<\/p>\n
WCEE is housed in the University of Michigan International Institute and is comprised of the Center for European Studies (CES); the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREES); and the Copernicus Center for Polish Studies (CCPS). Named in honor of Ronald and Eileen Weiser and inspired by their time in Slovakia during Ambassador Weiser\u2019s service as U.S. Ambassador from 2001-04, WCEE began operations in September 2008.<\/p>\n
