The Institute for Social Studies at the University of Warsaw
was established in January, 1991, as an independent research unit of the University of Warsaw on the basis of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland and the President of the University of Michigan. The Institute for Social Studies (ISS) at the University of Warsaw is affiliated with the internationally known Institute for Social Research (ISR, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor). It is an interdisciplinary research oriented institution grouping sociologists, psychologists, economists and political scientists.
