During the General Assembly of the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) (International Social Survey Program), held in late April and early May 2026 in Prague, Dr. Marcin W. Zieliński was re-elected to the project’s Methodological Committee. In a secret ballot, he received the support of a majority of representatives from over 40 countries. This will be his third term on this committee.
The ISSP is one of the largest international research initiatives in the social sciences. More than 50 countries from around the world participate in the project, conducting annual comparative surveys on social attitudes, values, and opinions. The Robert Zajonc Institute of Social Studies is responsible for conducting the ISSP survey in Poland.
In addition to the representative from Poland, the Methodological Committee also includes representatives from the United States, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Greece, Israel, and New Zealand.
The Methodological Committee is responsible for developing and refining the program’s methodological standards. Its main tasks include:
- assessing the quality of research conducted in member countries,
- recommending new methodological solutions,
- monitoring the comparability of data across countries,
- supporting ISSP members in designing methodologies and conducting research.
