Seminar with presentation of Professor Aimable André Dufatanye

Please join us this Monday, September 3rd, 2018 at 14:00 for a seminar with presentation of Professor Aimable André Dufatanye from the Catholic University of Lyon. Professor Dufatanye is currently visiting ISS UW in the framework of FAB-MOVE project.
As part of the seminar, Professor Dufatanye will talk about his research on social entrepreneurship in France, the USA and South Africa, and the Polish FAB-MOVE team will share conclusions from their research.

Social enterprises (generally understood as combining the logic of businesses with the pursuit of social goals) and social innovation are fervently debated topics among policy-makers and scientists. This seminar aims at discussing the concept of social enterprises in different cultural, political, and economic contexts.
Discussion will be framed within an international comparative approach and will focus on identifying and analysing contextual aspects and critical factors for the development of social enterprises in France, South Africa, Poland and the USA. The definition, history, and evolution of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship in these countries will be analyzed, with an emphasis placed on regulations, policies, and evidence-based data. The seminar will also focus on the nature of the relationship between social enterprise and CSR (corporate social responsibility), highlighting examples of best practices in each of the four countries discussed.
Participants are invited to challenge the speakers’ presentations and to share their insights or experiences on social enterprise and/or innovation in their own countries.

This seminar is supported by the international project “For a Better Tomorrow: Social Enterprises on the Move” (FAB-MOVE), funded by the EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE).

The meeting will take place in room 417 in the Robert Zajonc Institute for Social Studies, Stawki 5/7, 4th floor.

Przyznane finansowanie na Dziedzinowe Repozytoria Otwartych Danych Badawczych

ISS UW wraz z Interdyscyplinarnym Centrum Modelowania Matematycznego i Komputerowego (ICM) UW, w partnerstwie z Instytutem Filozofii i Socjologii (IFiS) PAN oraz Wydziałem Chemii Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, uzyskał finansowanie w ramach Programu Operacyjnego Polska Cyfrowa (działanie 2.3 Cyfrowa dostępność i użyteczność informacji sektora publicznego) na realizację projektu Dziedzinowe Repozytoria Otwartych Danych Badawczych. W jego ramach powstanie między innymi nowa platforma przechowywania i udostępniania danych gromadzonych i udostępnianych przez Archiwum Danych Społecznych (www.ads.org.pl) oraz zostaną opracowane zgodnie z obowiązującymi w archiwistyce danych społecznych standardami (DDI, DOI) dane z około 500 zrealizowanych w Polsce badań.

Nowe granty NCN dla ISS

NCN przyznało finansowanie na realizację czterech nowych projektów badawczych w ISS. W tym dwu typu OPUS: dr Agnieszce Rychwalskiej „Jakość w społecznościach internetowych produkujących dobra intelektualne – wpływ struktury społecznej, procedur i zaangażowania uczestników” oraz dr Wiktorowi Marcowi „Rewolucja, której nie było. Mobilizacja polityczna i procesy państwotwórcze na poimperialnych pograniczach. Polska i Finlandia na tle porównawczym 1905-1921”, oraz dwu typu PRELUDIUM: dla Dagmary Szczepańskiej „Rola sieci społecznych w procesie mobilizacji do działania w argentyńskim ruchu Ni Una Menos” oraz dla Andrzeja Turkowskiego „Analiza debat nt. stosunków polsko-rosyjskich z wykorzystaniem kategorii pola w rozumieniu Pierre’a Bourdieu”. Marcin W. Zieliński, member of the ISSP Methodological Committee

We are pleased to announce that at this year’s general meeting of the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) members, which took place at the turn of April and May in Guadalajara (Mexico), ISS representative Dr. Marcin W. Zieliński was elected a permanent member of the ISSP Methodological Committee for four years term of office!

The ISSP is a cross-national collaboration programme conducting annual surveys on diverse topics relevant to social sciences.

Methodology Committee consists of seven members elected at the General Meeting. The Methodology Committee is chaired by Switzerland. The Methodology Committee co-ordinates the work of six groups addressing different areas of cross-cultural methods, all concerned with issues of equivalence: demography, non-response, weighting, mode effects, questionnaire design, translation.
